The Georgia Police Academy’s Law Enforcement Operations Section is a diverse training section within the academy. The section develops and delivers an intense and challenging training curriculum that provides law enforcement officers with the critical skills necessary to conduct thorough and successful investigations of crimes ranging from minor to the most heinous imaginable.
Courses offered within the Law Enforcement Operations section teach officers essential and critical skills in a wide range of subject areas including: criminal investigations, crimes against persons, property crimes, drug enforcement investigations, forensics, traffic crash investigation, DUI apprehension, Drug Recognition Expert, other traffic related courses, and the Coroner’s Training Program.
This section also delivers the training programs to satisfy the requirements for several Georgia P.O.S.T. specialized certifications: Criminal Investigator, Narcotic Investigator, Crime Scene Technician, Drug Recognitions Expert, Radar and Lidar Operator and Instructor, and Traffic Accident Reconstruction Specialist Certifications.
