GPSTC’s Instructional Services Division (ISD) supports the Training Center through superior customer service; innovative curriculum development and delivery; creative problem solving; exceptional project management; records management; and, secure, reliable, and integrated technology solutions. ISD is comprised of several sections that include: Georgia Public Safety Resiliency Program, Instructor Training, Leadership and Curriculum Services, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training, and Technical Services.
The Georgia Public Safety Resiliency Program is for all first responders. This 24-hour program is essential as public safety professionals that we have tools and skills necessary to cope with the day-to-day stresses of the job. The program introduces ways to recognize our stressors and offers a variety of solutions. Resiliency training helps change the way we look at things, emphasizing ways to look at events in a positive way and to grow from adversity. The Resiliency Program promotes well-being for first responders and their families.
The Instructor Training program allows public safety officials to become certified to train other personnel in their local jurisdictions. The courses provided through the instructor certification training programs are designed for public safety personnel who are responsible for instruction in performance-oriented training or who are responsible for developing lesson plans.
The Leadership and Curriculum Services section provides research and development for basic, advanced and specialized training courses in both online and classroom-based training formats. Maintenance and approval of all Master Course files are handled through Instructional Services and the division serves as liaison with the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council and with the Georgia Fire Standards and Training Council for course approvals. Additionally, the section also develops and delivers leadership training courses, along with the Georgia Public Safety Resiliency Program.
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training program is a dynamic collaboration of professionals committed to people with mental illness and other brain disorders. The CIT program is presented by the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, and the Georgia Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
The Technical Services section supports the delivery of training and the business operations of the Training Center. All technical aspects of the Training Center are managed through this section. The section supports audio-visual equipment used in the delivery of training. All requests for audio-visual support should be submitted to [email protected]. Additionally, the Print Shop is maintained through this section. The Print Shop prints training material used in classroom instruction. Request for printing should be submitted to [email protected].
