The Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Columbus conducts the Basic Police Officer Training program, the Basic Jail Officer Training program, and selected advanced and specialized training courses.

Basic Police Officer Training

Candidates who wish to become law enforcement officers should carefully review the requirements for Becoming a Police Officer in Georgia. Upon completing all prerequisites, candidates may enroll in the 408-hour Basic Law Enforcement Training program at GPSTC Columbus. The Basic Law Enforcement Training program is typically taught four times per year at GPSTC Columbus.

Basic Jail Officer Training

Candidates interested in becoming Jail Officers in Georgia should do so through their agency of employment. Training officers may enroll candidates into the 80-hour Basic Jail Officer program at GPSTC Columbus. The Basic Jail Officer Training program is typically taught four times per year at GPSTC Columbus.

Advanced and Specialized Training
