Basic Training Division
The Basic Training Division is composed of the Regional Academies, Basic Communications Officer Training Program, Basic Jail Officer Training Program, Driver Training and Physical Training. The Regional Academies delivers the Basic Law Enforcement Training for all of the local officers in the State of Georgia. The regionals also deliver Basic Jail Training and advanced/specialized and in-service law enforcement training necessary to satisfy the requirements of O.C.G.A. 35-8.

There are regional law enforcement academies throughout the state. The State operated facilities whose staff members are employees of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center are:
GPSTC - Athens
GPSTC - Augusta
GPSTC - Columbus
GPSTC - Dalton
GPSTC - Forsyth
GPSTC - Savannah
GPSTC - Tifton
The other academies, Fulton County Public Safety Training Center (College Park) and North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy (Austell) provide services to their regions through contracted state funds and support from sponsoring agencies. All academies are supported by Advisory Boards made up of local officers and civilian personnel.
