Required Equipment

The following equipment is required of cadets attending the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at GPSTC Tifton.

  1. Black Shoes/Boots: one pair (must hold a shine, inspected daily)
  2. White Academy logo polo shirts (3)
  3. Academy logo t-shirts, navy (3)
  4. Pants, khaki (tactical cotton preferred) (3) with black belt
  5. Academy logo baseball hat, khaki (1)
  6. PT shorts, navy blue (minimum of 2 pair)
  7. Athletic Shoes (1 pair)
  8. Duty Belt, black (leather or nylon)
  9. Holster (leather or nylon), security level 2 minimum
  10. Pistol with three magazines and magazine pouch in .40, .45 or 9mm calibers.
    Pre-Service candidates may be able to borrow Academy pistols if available.
  11. Weapon cleaning supplies (recommended)
  12. Flashlight with batteries and flashlight holder/ring
  13. Handcuffs with keys and handcuff case (corrections high security cuffs are not allowed)
  14. Expandable baton and baton holster. Pre-Service candidates may borrow this from the Academy.
  15. Groin protector (optional) and mouth guard (optional)
  16. Safety glasses
  17. Classroom supplies (notebook, paper, pencils, black ball point pens)
  18. Purchase of the OCGA Code Book is required.
  19. Sweatshirt with Academy logo
  20. Blue or black jacket (no advertisement)
  21. Rain gear (departmental rain gear is allowed)
