The GPSTC-Savannah Academy Class 291 participated in the 2016 CrimeStoppers’ Azalea Run.  The Azalea Run is a 5k run that helps to raise funds for the CrimeStoppers of Savannah-Chatham County Reward Fund.  CrimeStoppers relies on cooperation between the police, the media, and the general community to provide a flow of information about crime and criminals.  The cadets volunteered to help along the route and with many other tasks for the race.  GPSTC academy staff, along with four cadets from Class 291, participated by running in the race.  Runners representing GPSTC racked up medals for the event.  These runners are:

Lt. Rick Mitts (GPSTC Savannah) 1st for ages 30-34, time was 20:26
Cadet Dorian Smith (Savannah Metro PD) 1st for ages 20-24, time was 29:41
Cadet Michael Kanago (Glynn Co PD) 2nd for ages 25-29, time 21:45
Cadet John Tokos (Savannah Metro PD) 2nd for ages 30-34, time was 25:38
Cadet Wytzer Sylla (Savannah Metro PD) 1st for ages 50-54, time was 29:41
