Chief Ike McConnell, Georgia Fire Academy Division Director, received the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs 2021 Presidents Award at the 2022 Firefighter’s Recognition Day Legislative Appreciation Dinner on February 1, 2022.

The President of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs has the opportunity to award one recipient a year that they believe is deserving of the Presidents Award. President of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs from 2018 to 2021, said he chose Chief McConnell as the 2021 award recipient because, while he is not a fire chief, McConnell has a major impact on the fire service in Georgia. Chief McConnell said he is “very humbled to receive the award from the association. We do quite a lot of work with them, and I am glad to be able to give back.”
