Cumulative stress of the job is one of the major factors in determining job satisfaction, retaining employees, and evaluating the overall emotional health of the first responder.

Stress First Aid for Public Safety Officers, sponsored by Emergency Preparedness, the State Office of EMS, GPSTC, and The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, is a course designed to reduce the risk for stress reactions in Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement personnel. This program focuses on recognition of how those in the public safety arena react to a wide range of stressors in their work and personal lives.

The course uses real life situations to help individuals and crews recognize various everyday stressors. It is these stressors, coupled with the demands of the job, which if unrecognized, may lead to negative reactions or behaviors.

As a member of the emergency response community, you are invited to participate in this important training on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

This class is an excellent stand-alone class, as well as a train-the-trainer for those students who are certified as an EMS, POST, or Fire Instructor. Students completing the course, who are certified instructors, will be able to deliver an Awareness Level, 90 minute in-service course and a four hour Operational Level Stress First Aid program to his or her agency.
