The Georgia Police Academy is offering the Internal Affairs Investigations course the week of November 14-18, 2016. The course will be held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Forsyth campus.
Through classroom presentation and discussion, this course provides Georgia officers with an overview of the Constitution and Bill of Rights as it applies to law enforcement, with emphasis on the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 14th Amendments.
This course is intended for those investigators and administrators tasked with the responsibility of performing internal investigations. Some topics to be discussed in the course are police officers’ rights, criminal liability, civil liability, Garrity v. New Jersey, Title 7, and administrative rights and duties.
Prerequisite: The applicant must be a sworn, certified peace officer currently employed full time by a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency.
