The Georgia Fire Academy, which was founded in 1975, oversees all training—both basic and advanced—for career and volunteer firefighters in the state of Georgia. As a division within GPSTC, the Fire Academy operates out of the main campus in Forsyth, Georgia and conducts training at offsite locations by request.

The staff at the Georgia Fire Academy (GFA) is dedicated to developing the abilities of Georgia’s firefighters and fire officers to deliver safe, effective and efficient emergency services to the communities they serve. The Georgia Fire Academy offers a comprehensive array of training courses that address the professional development needs of Georgia Fire & EMS organizations from entry-level training through chief officer training. Many of the exceptional training classes we offer meet or exceed the National Fire Protection Association’s requirements for ProBoard Certification.

The Georgia Fire Academy strives to maintain state-of-the art training for the Georgia fire service community and continuously researches the most effective training methods to ensure that we deliver the highest quality training to our customers. The Georgia Fire Academy offers an experiential approach to learning that provides our students with a balanced classroom environment of lectures, combined with the use of realistic scenarios, to better prepare responders for “real world” applications.

In addition, The National Fire Academy (NFA) has designated the Georgia Fire Academy to host and deliver NFA-developed training programs to firefighters in Georgia. The Georgia Fire Academy also provides assistance and support to area communities during major events or challenging circumstances as they arise.
