The Basic Firefighter Training program, offered through the Georgia Fire Academy at GPSTC, is the top firefighter training program in the state of Georgia and is designed for applicants who are interested in becoming career firefighters and earning state certification as a firefighter. The ten week program consists of 428 hours of rigorous training that includes classroom-based lecture and practical skills building sessions.

Enrollment

Students who wish to enroll in the Basic Firefighter Training program for certification and who are currently employed by a fire department should contact their supervisor or training officer for details. Civilians who wish to attend a Basic Firefighter Training program to become a firefighter may do so as pre-service candidates and should carefully read the GPSTC web page on how to become a firefighter in Georgia.

Curriculum
