The Scott Millsap Scholarship is a benevolent gift from Fire Engineering Editor-in-Chief/FDIC CEO Bobby Halton. This scholarship is awarded in honor of the late Scott Millsap, the ultimate motivator with a “whatever it takes” attitude. The goal of said scholarship is to reward deserving recipients in the fire service who display a highly motivated demeanor toward mentoring, leadership and instructing.

The awarded scholarships will cover the registration fee to attend the FDIC. FDIC, the world’s largest firefighter training and exhibition, will take place April 22-27, 2013 in Indianapolis. All travel and lodging expense will be the responsibility of the recipient of this scholarship.

Candidates for this scholarship must submit a minimum of a one page essay briefly describing their motivational leadership ability while instructing in today’s fire service. In addition, each candidate shall submit a letter of recommendation from a Chief or Company Officer attesting to their outreach as an instructor and leader.

Applicants should submit their essay and letter of recommendation by Friday, November 30th to Lt. David Bullard at [email protected]
