On September 22, 2017, the Wal-Mart Super Center #907 in Forsyth, GA held its Grand Re-opening. During the event, Wal-Mart in conjunction with the Coca-Cola Company recognized the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) for its economic impact in the community.

The GPSTC campus is located a short distance from the Wal-Mart location here in Forsyth. Approximately 44,000 students trained on the campus of the GPSTC last year. The majority of those students lodged at the campus or locally and therefore made a significant contribution within the community. As a result of this impact, Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola presented the GPSTC with an Award of Appreciation for its contribution.

Mrs. Barbara Dean, GPSTC Liaison to the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, was present to accept the award. Mrs. Dean stated, “I am honored to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.”
