On February 9, Georgia Police Academy Director Carlos Ortiz gave a tour of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center to Monroe County’s Cub Scout Den 10 of Pack 51 and their Den Leader Jeff Pixley.

The scouts toured the academic building, including the gym and the forensics lab. Mr. Ortiz discussed how the GPSTC trains public safety officers and emphasized the importance of being physically fit.

In the forensics lab, the scouts not only learned about fingerprints and lifting latent prints, they got to practice lifting a print themselves. With their successful completion of this task, they got a GPSTC challenge chip.

Looks like we may have some future public safety officers in Den 10!
