Biography

John Wayne Robinson joined the staff of the Georgia Fire Academy at GPSTC in 2014 as the Hazardous Materials Program Coordinator.

Robinson is a United States Marine Corp Veteran serving from 1969 to 1971. He comes to the Georgia Fire Academy from the private sector. In 1981 he joined United States Parcel Service as a technician and by 1983 was promoted to the position of Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. In 1984 Robinson promoted again to the position of Fleet Maintenance Manager and was assigned to train and develop fleet maintenance supervisors and fleet maintenance managers.

In December of 1994 he joined Chemical Leaman Tank Lines as the Fleet Maintenance Manager for the Southeast Region. His functionality was to help improve the safety procedures for tank entry, confined space and fall protection. In addition, he developed fleet maintenance procedures and training standards. 1995 brought about another change when he was promoted to Division Fleet Manager and was assigned to help develop fleet maintenance procedures nationwide and a variety of other special assignments.

In July of 1999, Robinson joined the management team at Ryder Truck Rental as the Fleet Support and Inventory Planning Manager for Georgia, Tennessee and North Florida. There he negotiated contracts for spare parts and services.

In 2010, Robinson received an Appointment to Lamar County Board of Tax Assessors.

Robinson has four children, three boys and one girl.
