Thomas Stewart Williamson

GPSTC PST III Instructor
GPSTC Police Officer

It was in Stewart Williamson’s blood to become a Law Enforcement Officer. Stewart was named after the late retired Dougherty County Sheriff, D. Lamar Stewart. Stewart’s father, Thomas Mitchell Williamson was the Captain of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Division when he and his partner were killed in a car accident while on duty. Stewart’s mother, Rebecca W. Cranford has served with the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office for over thirty six years and is currently the sex offender registrar for the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. Stewart also has several family members that are currently serving in law enforcement in Georgia also.

Stewart Williamson began his law enforcement career in 2005 at the Dougherty County Police Department, where he served as a Corporal in the uniform division and he also served as an Investigator. Stewart was also a Field Training Officer for the uniform division. While Stewart was working for the Dougherty County Police Department, he also served as a criminal interdiction officer for a few years while he was attached to the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit.

In 2012, Stewart left the Dougherty County Police Department and he became a Deputy Sheriff at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. While at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, he was promoted to Sergeant in the patrol division. Stewart assisted the uniform commander with supervising other patrol Deputies. Stewart was also a Field Training Officer for the Sheriff’s Office. In 2013, Stewart became a General Instructor and in 2015 he became a Firearms Instructor. Stewart assisted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s Department Training Officer with various types of training. In 2017, Stewart left the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in 2017 to become a full time instructor with GPSTC.
