Kevin Morang began his Law Enforcement Career in December 2005 when he was hired by Rome Police Department and attended the Northwest Georgia Police Academy. After working Patrol, he transferred to the Traffic Unit where he was assigned to the bicycle team. He instituted and coordinated several bike programs in the schools and taught bike safety in the community. He joined the Floyd County Chapter of Safe Kids and served as acting co-coordinator. After assisting with the Safe Kids program, he became a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), and became more interested in working traffic from a passenger safety perspective, often assisting the traffic crash investigation team. He took an active role in community education and helped implement a program for providing child seats to those who could not afford them.

Morang earned his FTO certification and transitioned into being a full time FTO. As an FTO, he trained new officers with the Rome Police Department and eventually moved into the Training Division. While in the training division, he continued to help in the administration of the FTO program, taught the R.I.S.E. program in the area schools and worked as an associate training officer for the department.

After serving in the training a capacity, Morang was promoted to Sergeant and supervised both patrol and the traffic unit, where he became heavily involved with the GOHS network MATEN II and continued his work as a CPST. After spending 2 years supervising he decided training was his true love and moved back into a training role as a FTO and began helping as an adjunct instructor with the Police Academy through GPSTC – Cherokee/Rome. In March 2016, Kevin took the opportunity to become a full-time trainer and was hired as class coordinator/instructor with the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

Morang is married with two children whom he loves spending time with and getting outdoors when he can.
