Griffin began his law enforcement career with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office in 1999 as a radio operator. In 2000, Griffin moved to northeast Georgia and joined the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy assigned to the jail division. In 2001, Griffin joined the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. During his 14 years with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, he was assigned to patrol, traffic unit and drug task force. Griffin was chosen as Deputy of the Year in 2004. In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Patrol Division.

Griffin joined the instructional staff at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center as part of the Driver Training division in 2015.
