Biography

David Knight began his law enforcement career in 1987 in the United States Air Force Security Police. After serving in security police at Robins AFB, Georgia, Knight joined civilian law enforcement as a patrolman at the Warner Robins Police Department in 1991. In his second year with Warner Robins PD, Knight was selected for the Special Tactics and Response Team (STAR) as a police counter-sniper. In addition to serving on the STAR team, Knight maintained his duties on patrol where he became a field training officer. Knight later became a police motorcycle officer assigned to the traffic unit. While assigned to the traffic unit, Knight served on the accident reconstruction team that investigated traffic fatalities. In 1999, Knight was promoted to sergeant. While serving as a sergeant, Knight supervised a patrol squad and the accident reconstruction team.

In 2001 Knight joined the staff of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in the Police Academy’s Firearms section, where he served for four years. After briefly returning to the Warner Robins PD, Knight joined the GPSTC Basic Training Division’s instructional staff. Knight eventually returned to the Firearms section, where he puts his passion for the discipline to great use, providing Georgia’s law enforcement officers with roughly 800 hours of firearms training each year. David continues to challenge himself and build skill in various firearms disciplines by participating in pistol competitions across the southeast.
