Command and General Staff for Local IMT’S is a course set for multidiscipline personnel that will be required to work together as a team to effectively manage an incident or event during the first operational period.

This is a 48-hour course that enables students to demonstrate knowledge of the Incident

Command System (ICS) and the Command and General Staff functions as they affect planning and implementation of the ICS for an incident at the local level, through instructor-driven lecture, class participation, active contributions to the interactive activities, and simulations.

The Georgia Fire Academy will be offering this course twice in January. The first offering will be in Paulding County and the second will be in Barrow County.

The Paulding County class (FFAF15007) is set for the week of January 12 to January 16, 2015 at the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, located at 730 Airport Parkway in Dallas, Georgia.

The Barrow County class (FFAF15037) is set for the week of January 26 to January 30, 2015 at the Barrow County Emergency Services, located at 222 Pleasant Hill Church Rd. N. E. in Winder, Georgia.

Please note:
There are prerequisites for this course. The prerequisite courses are NIMS IS-100 and NIMS IS-200, which establish a foundation of the duties and responsibilities of ICS/NIMS functions for a local Incident Management Team (IMT). The Command and General Staff for Local IMT’S meets the requirements of IS 300 & IS 400 and provides focus on using the ICS/NIMS in managing large-scale/complex incidents.

For personnel who intend to:
1.) continue training with Position Specific Classes,
2.) apply to be on the Type Three Incident Management Team, or
3.) become a Trainer,
it is required that you have successfully completed NIMS ICS 300 and 400 level courses.
