The Georgia Public Safety Training Center offers Instructor Certification Training programs that allow public safety officials to become certified to train other personnel in their local jurisdictions. The courses provided through the Instructor Certification Training programs are designed for public safety personnel who are responsible for instruction in performance-oriented training or who are responsible for developing lesson plans.
Instructor Training Level I
This course is designed for the public safety officer who instructs in performance-oriented training and is responsible for delivering in-service training. Topics range from instructor liability and point of instruction (POI) design, to testing and evaluation of learning. During the course, each student writes an original point of instruction plan on an approved public safety topic and develops the presentation skills necessary to deliver instruction on the topic. Instructors will utilize the blended learning model to deliver instruction. Students will use the GPSTC Online Classroom to submit assignments and projects.
Instructor Training Level II
This course is designed for the public safety officer who instructs in performance-oriented training and is responsible for delivering advanced training. Topics will include instructor liability, research methods, needs assessment, course and lesson plan design, student engagement activities, challenging learners, and measuring and evaluating learning. Instructors will utilize the blended learning model to deliver instruction. Students will use the GPSTC Online Classroom to submit assignments and projects.
Instructor Training Level III
This course is designed for the public safety officer who provides administrative oversight and delivery of training at the agency level. Topics range from strategic training program improvement, advanced training needs assessments, project planning, measuring and evaluating learning, and course delivery planning and logistics. During the course, each student will select an existing training program in need of improvement. Instructors will utilize the blended learning model to deliver instruction. Students will use the GPSTC Online Classroom to submit assignments and projects. Students will also present projects in a panel review setting.

Specialized Instructor Certification
After successfully completing Instructor Training Level 1 & 2, Specialized Instructor training programs are available through the respective Georgia Police and Georgia Fire Academies and qualify students for POST and/or NPQ certification as an instructor.
