Georgia Police Academy Criminal Investigations Section

With more than 30 courses of instruction, the Georgia Police Academy’s Criminal Investigations Section is a diverse training section within the academy. The section develops and delivers an intense and challenging training curriculum that provides law enforcement officers with the critical skills necessary to conduct thorough and successful investigations of crimes ranging from minor to the most heinous imaginable.

Courses offered within the Criminal Investigations section teach officers essential and critical skills in a wide range of subject areas including: arson investigations, crimes against persons, property crimes, drug enforcement investigations, forensics, and the Coroner’s Training Program.

On average, the Criminal Investigations Section provides more than 3000 hours of training for more than 3,000 law enforcement officers each year.

The section also delivers the training programs to satisfy the requirements for four Georgia P.O.S.T. specialized certifications— Arson Investigator, Criminal Investigator, Narcotic Investigator and the Crime Scene Technician Certifications.
