Some courses presented at the Georgia Fire Academy may count as college credit. The American Council on Education/College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE/CCRS) annually reviews certain GFA courses and makes recommendations for credit equivalencies. ACE/CCRS reviews formal training developed outside colleges and universities and publishes its recommendations in the The National Guide to Educational Training Programs, used by educational institutions throughout the country. Where applicable, GFA course descriptions in this calendar, include these ACE/CCRS recommendations.
Review the course description and attach to your application any document or other proof of meeting prerequisites.
For courses offered in sequential order, apply for only one course at a time. This allows for verification that prerequisites are met.
Students are prevented from applying for more than one opening of a course as well as applying for more than one course during the same time period.
Preregistration is not required for courses conducted off campus. Students should bring a completed SAF on the first day of the course.
A no-show for a course denies another person the opportunity to receive the training. We urge sending a qualified person as a substitute, or notifying us in advance.
