The The GPSTC Basic Training Division conducts a 408 hr. Basic Law Enforcement Training Course 6-8 times a year, Basic Jailor Training on and off campus, various Intermediate and Advanced Training Courses also on and off campus.

Traveling south on I75, take exit number 188 Turn right at the stop sign Go 0.5 mile and turn left across the railroad tracks on the Training Center access road

From the South:

Traveling north on I75, take exit number 188 Turn right, go under the I75 overpass to the stop sign and turn right Go 0.5 mile and turn left across the railroad tracks on the Training Center access road

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING COURSE

  1. Boots / Shoes - Black, must be able to hold a shine (inspected daily).
  2. Shirt - Pullover academy logo shirt (shirts are ordered from Stitches Unlimited, Inc., Mr. Jamie Littleton, (706) 394-6565. These shirts are competitively priced, ordering several is recommended. Make sure you mention - Macon" so there is no confusion in ordering. Academy shirts are required on the first day of class. Sizes small, medium, large and extra large are $12.95 @. 2xlarge: add $2, 3xlarge: add $3, 3xlarge add $4.
  3. Trousers - Khaki (5.11 tactical cotton preferred, but not required); other khaki brands are available (Docker, Dickie, etc.).
  4. Hat - Baseball type, khaki colored from Stitches Unlimited, Inc. (Begins April, 2009).
  5. Workout clothes - Dark blue: t-shirt, sweats, shorts (if shorts are worn they must be mid-thigh in length).
  6. Workout shoes (cross-country, running, tennis, etc)
  7. Duty belt - Leather or Nylon.
  8. Holster - Leather or Nylon, Security Level 1 minimum.
  9. Handcuffs with keys and handcuff case. Pre-service students check with staff on supply.
  10. Pistol, three magazines (.40, .45, or 9mm calibers). Pre-service students who provide their own weapons must have them approved before class begin. Those Pre-service students without weapons should contact academy staff before purchasing (a weapon may be provided by the academy depending on supply).
  11. Weapon cleaning supplies are recommended.
  12. Flashlight with batteries.
  13. Training pistols (artificial weapons) will be issued to each student by staff.
  14. A good dictionary is recommended.
  15. The Peace Officer Reference Text (PORT) is provided, but may not be marked or highlighted. The PORT is available for purchase by students for $35 + 7% tax ($2.45) = $37.45. Payment is by money order or certified check from an individual. An agency buying the PORT is not charged tax and may use a departmental / city / county check payable to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center for $35.
