Directions

Directions from Atlanta: I-85 South to I-185 South, I-185 South to Airport Thruway Exit. # 7. The ramp goes right and then splits into 2 left turn lanes and 1 right turn lane. You will want to get into the left turn lanes. Turn left onto Hwy 85 (Manchester Expressway) and get into the far right lane. This will be a right turn only lane. Make your right turn at the dead-end of that lane and you need to stay to the right. Turn right onto Warm Springs Rd. and get into the left hand lane. Go to the traffic light at the top of the hill and turn left onto East Lindsey Drive. (There is a liquor store on your left) If you go through that traffic light it will take you over the Interstate and you MISSED YOUR TURN! Take East Lindsey Drive down the hill and past the entrance to the University. The next building you see on your left will be the back of our building. Go past our building until you see the entrance to the big parking lot. Turn left into the parking lot and you are there.

I-185 North to Exit 7A. Take exit and stay to the right. Remain in that lane until it ends (500) and make right turn onto Warm Springs Rd. Follow above directions from there.

Highway 85 South. Take Hwy 85 (Manchester Expressway) to University Ave intersection located in front of the Peachtree Mall. Turn East onto University and go 1 block to Warm Springs Rd. Turn right onto Warm Springs Rd. and go to next traffic light. Turn Left onto East Lindsey Drive. Follow above directions

Equipment Requirements
1. 3 Golf Shirts (Red) with Academy logo
2. 3 t-shirts (red) with Academy logo
3. Khaki pants (5.11 BDU cotton preferred)
4. Black shoes, boots shined daily
5. Black inner belt
6. Duty belt (Leather or Nylon) with minimum 3 belt keepers
7. Holster, Level 2 or higher (Leather or Nylon)
8. Semi-Auto pistol w/ 3 magazines (Must be .45, .40, 9mm)
9. Flashlight
10. Flashlight holder/ring
11. Handcuffs w/ key (No corrections high security cuffs)
12. Classroom supplies (Notebook, paper, black ballpoint pens, and pencils)
13. Weather appropriate exercise clothing (shoes, pants/shorts, sweats)
14. Expandable baton with scabbard
15. Safety glasses for range
16. Baseball style hat for range (inappropriate logos are prohibited)

Calendar of Courses

Registration
Complete the registration form and mail or fax it to the the academy. All classes approved for POST training credit. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. All classes begin at 8:00 a.m., unless otherwise stated. There is no tuition for certified law enforcement officers, however, supplies are required for certain advanced/specialized training courses.

Dress Code
Appropriate civilian clothing or departmental uniform is excepted. Dress not acceptable is: sweats, shorts, jeans or t-shirts, etc.

Tuition
Certified law enforcement and support staff employees by municipal, county, or state public safety agencies may attend courses at no cost. Employees of federal, out-of-state, and private sector organizations may attend on a space available basis at a cost of $10.00 per clock hour.

Cancellation
Please cancel any reservation for classes that you will be unable to attend. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Applications for the Advanced and Intermediate Certificates may be obtained from the Academy or the POST website, www.gapost.org.

NOTE:    Students must keep a copy of all the diplomas for the Advanced and Intermediate Courses they have attended. These copies must accompany the completed applications and be sent to the Academy for the Academy Director's signature. The Academy will forward the applications to POST.

Each level of certification, Intermediate and Advanced, requires ten (10) quarter hours of college credit or the semester equivalent.
