Prerequisite: Traffic Accident Reconstruction Levels I - V

This course is designed to demonstrate the process for accurately estimating the speed loss of vehicles which rotate (spin) about their vertical center of mass and leave friction marks on the road. The topics covered include the Concepts and Definitions associated with a spin analysis, Drag Factor Adjustments and Speed/Combined Speed Estimates. Applicants who complete this online module may obtain two (2) hours of POST training credit through submission of the POST C-12 process using the POST code DTI03G. For more information, contact your departmental training officer.

Special Notes: There is no narration for this online training module. Students will need a calculator, Spin Analysis-Excel Document, Traffic Equations-Word Document, Equation Work-Excel Document, protractor, traffic template and access to a printer. The Excel and Word documents can be downloaded from the GPSTC Website by going to the Home Page and selecting Divisions/Georgia Police Academy/Sections/Traffic Section/Spin Analysis-Excel Document, Traffic Equations-Word Document and Equation Work-Excel Document. Students will have the opportunity throughout the presentation to answer questions which will check their understanding.
