Who Should Attend: The purpose of this course is to achieve coverage of NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Level 1. The primary goal of this course is to introduce the student to the many factors that may be encountered during inspections and to refer them to more detailed sources of information on the subject.
Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed GPSTC course entitled Georgia Fire Inspector Level I Module 1.
This course is the second of a two-part course designed to prepare students to successfully perform fire inspector duties and to successful obtain the State Fire Inspector Certification. This course introduces the potential fire inspector to the core basics of fire inspections. Topics such as means of egress, water based suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, site access, fire inspection procedures, and such will be discussed.
Special Notes: The course is Course Coordinator managed. Students must submit Student
Authorization and letter from Chief Officer or Fire Marshal attesting to assignment or responsibility as fire inspector and certifying prerequisites. All applicants will initially be placed on a Waiting List. Approximately 30 days prior to the start date, attendees will be selected based on date of application submission, provided that they meet the prerequisites listed above. Any applicants who meet the prerequisites but are not accepted into the course will be notified to reapply for a future offering.
Any applicants who do not meet the prerequisites, or exceed the two attendees per-department maximum, will be rejected and must reapply for a future offering.
At the completion of the course the student is eligible to participate in the Georgia Fire Inspector State Certification written test and challenge the National Professional Qualification Skills testing.
