Who Should Attend: Personnel involved with the EMS or Fire Service.

Every year 100 firefighters are killed in the "line of duty". In rare instances, a firefighter died because they were placing themselves between harm and the public they swore an oath to protect. But, in the overwhelming majority of circumstances, firefighters are dying in completely unacceptable ways. This unapologetically hard course is designed to "de-bunk" many of the myths surrounding firefighter fatalities and discuss the strategies found in the 16 Life Safety Initiatives as a springboard for action.

The first portion of the course utilizes the National Fallen Firefighters nationally acclaimed course "Courage To Be Safe," as the base. The course introduces firefighters to the 16 Life Safety Initiatives aimed at decreasing the number of lives lost annually. The second part of the course utilizes the International Association of Fire Chiefs, "Crew Resource Management." This portion of the course pertains to the effective use of all resources to minimize errors, improve safety and improve performance.
