Who Should Attend: The firefighter who is ready to take on the responsibility and training necessary to become a Fire Company Officer, newly appointed Company Officers, or those who feel the need to update their skills.

Prerequisite: Students should have 4 years of credible fire service experience in addition to state or national certification in one of the following areas: Firefighter or Airport Firefighter

This course will be the final course for Fire and Emergency Services personnel for Fire Officer 1 level of training. This course is for the firefighter who is ready to take on the responsibility and training necessary to become a Fire Company Officer. The student will be introduced the subtleties and responsibilities of the position. Communications model, training, providing educational programs, responding to the public, general administration functions, health and safety are just some of the subjects discussed in this course.

Special Notes: For those students that have not taken Acting Officer in Charge for the Fire Service and Transitional and Interpersonal Leadership Training, an official letter from the Department Head must be submitted with justification for attendance. It is highly recommended that the applying student have completed the following training courses: Preparation for Initial Company Operations, Strategy and Tactics for Initial Company Operations, Building Construction (Combustible and Non-Combustible), and NIMS 100 level training.
