This course is designed for the public safety officer who instructs in performance oriented training and is responsible for lesson plan development. Topics range from instructor liability and lesson plan design to testing and evaluation of learning. During the course, each student writes an original lesson plan on a public safety topic of their choice and develops the presentation skills necessary to deliver that lesson.
Special Notes: Each of these offerings has a one week break between weeks 1 and 2.
This program meets the training criteria established by the Georgia P.O.S.T. Council for certification as an instructor, the National Fire Standard of NFPA 1041 Instructor 2, and is a Prerequisite to teach as a primary instructor for the Georgia Fire Academy.
Applications and required letters for Instructor Training classes MUST be received at least four (4) weeks prior to the start date. Applications do not roll over to the next available date if rejected, therefore; a Student Authorization Form and the two letters must be submitted for each class date desired. Any application received without the letters will be denied.
NOTE: ** indicates that the seats available cannot be calculated or confirmed. For classes that start in 3 days, contact GPSTC Registration at 478-993-4491. For all other courses, contact the sponsoring agency for registration details.
